The School Day

Children should be in school in good time for the start of the morning session. The times of the morning sessions are as follows:

Morning Session: 8.55am - (12.10pm) 12.20pm
Afternoon session 1.10pm - (3.15pm) 3.20pm

This provides a teaching week of 23 hours and 45 minutes for Key Stage Two and 21 hours and 40 minutes for Key stage One and Reception (times in brackets).

There is a morning break of 15 minutes for all children and an afternoon break for Key Stage 1 and Reception children of 15 minutes in the afternoon.

The school promotes a Green Travel plan which aims to encourage walking to school and car sharing. When arriving by car, parents should ensure that they park responsibly and should avoid parking on the yellow road markings. Parents must not bring cars onto the school grounds. The riding of bicycles or scooters in the school grounds is prohibited for safety reasons. These can be ridden to school and left by the main office.

For normal school hours Broadgate Lane is supervised by a crossing patrol. Whilst the LEA and Police make every effort to cover this crossing at all times, there may be occasions when they are unable to do so. Whenever possible, parents will be given notice if the school crossing cannot be covered. The department is however, unable to guarantee a crossing patrol service at all times. Full responsibility for ensuring the child's safe journey to and from home remains with the parents.

If a child takes part in after school activities, parents must ensure that adequate arrangements have been made for the child's journey home.

Supervision by staff can only be guaranteed between 8.50pm and 3.30pm. On safety grounds it would be appreciated if children did not arrive at school too early and were collected promptly at the end of the day.
